Matthew Enfinger

Percussionist & Arts Administrator

Matthew is a percussionist and collaborator who performs in mixed ensemble and chamber music settings, bringing classical works into non-traditional performance spaces. He regularly performs pieces by modernist composers such as Reich, Akiho and Ortiz alongside ensembles dedicated to 21st century repertoire. With the Vanderbilt Percussion Group, Matthew has recordings that feature Cage’s renowned “Third Construction” and other groundbreaking contemporary pieces.

Matthew also serves as the Development Intern for Community Concerts at Second, a non-profit dedicated to enriching the Baltimore community by presenting free professional musical performances of lasting artistic value. He also serves as the External Opportunities Intern at Peabody’s Launchpad, a career services office tailored to help rising artists establish themselves in an ever-changing environment.

Matthew has completed a Bachelor of Music degree at Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music under the tutelage of Ji Hye Jung and Lee Vinson. He is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University under the tutelage of Robert van Sice.
